I am David Pires, a plant nematologist and PhD candidate at the University of Évora. My research explores the biological control of the pinewood nematode, Bursaphelenchus xylophilus, using antagonistic fungi. In addition to my research, I collaborate with De La Salle University's Plant and Soil Health Research Unit and co-founded Active Plant Nematologists. Through research, extension, and outreach, I aim to make nematology more accessible while fostering connections between scientists, practitioners, and the public.
