I am a lifelong Ohioan and proud graduate of Ohio's public K12 and higher education institutions. I completed my K12 education in the Niles City Schools District (Go Red Dragons!). Following high school, I attended Kent State University (Go Flashes!) for my bachelor's and master's degree and University of Cincinnati (Go Bearcats!) for my doctorate. I also have a graduate degree in ministry (theology) from the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary.
I am an educational psychologist by training, but I am a teacher and an educator at my core. Education provided me with the ability to pursue goals that seemed impossible. I strive to create an environment where all students feel welcome and where they can acquire the knowledge and skills that have a direct impact on their personal and professional lives. I am an avid supporter of public education and seek out opportunities to share with the public the critical role of public education in our democracy.Â
In addition to my work in higher education, I am engaged in ministry work through the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). I am progressive in my theological views and see the mission of the church to improve the quality of life for all people.
