The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck (1992-1994), by Don Rosa
I study what happens when family life meets money — and it gets complicated quickly. Think of parents helping finance a first home, couples negotiating how to pool their resources, or how a marriage (or a divorce) reshapes both your bank account and your health. I approach these questions from the perspective of sociology as a population science, that is finding order in chaos.
I use longitudinal survey data, following individuals and families over time. Depending on the question, I draw on methods such as sequence analysis or panel analysis, often within a dyadic framework to better capture intrafamilial relationships.
Wealth and health across demographic trajectories are my core interest, though I also keep an eye on inequalities in housework, housing, deprivation, and labour markets.
Wealth inequality and family dynamics:. wealth accumulation, within-couple wealth inequality, intergenerational transmission of homeownership, and inheritance.
