Board Certified Criminal Defense Specialist, David Serna, is well-known for winning cases. He graduated from Georgetown University with a Juris Doctorate in 1977 and practiced as a violent crimes prosecution attorney until 1981. That year, he founded the Serna Law Offices in Albuquerque, New Mexico. From then on, he practiced as a criminal defense attorney and handled murder and other high-profile criminal cases.
He is a recipient of several distinctions and currently holds two board certifications, which he renews consistently every five years from the time they were issued in his favor. In 1990, he acquired a certification for Criminal Defense Specialist from the New Mexico Board of Legal Specialization. In 1986, he obtained a certification for Diplomate and Criminal Trial Advocate from the National Board of Trial Advocacy.
Board certifications are only issued after the following requisites are met: upon completion of a qualifying written exam, which is usually conducted the whole day; upon submitting proof that the lawyer has represented and defended clients in fairly complex felonies; and upon submitting a written peer review of co-counsels, judges, and clients. This peer review assesses the lawyer’s skills, quality of services, and character.
Besides achieving these milestones in the law profession, Mr. Serna is also a lover of music and theater. Once in a while, he performs with musical groups in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
