With Winter storms a regular occurrence, it is imperative that non-permanent structures such as poly-tunnels are secure enough to withstand storm force winds. Failure to do so can result non-permanent structures being projected by strong winds across areas of the site. Such instances can cause damage to other plots and could be very dangerous.
A Whatsapp Group for the site has been set to facilitate communication between members. If you wish to join the group, use the 'Contact Us' page to provide us with your name and phone number which will be passed on to the organiser.

The site's water supply has been re-instated for the Summer and will only be isolated sometme in November unless major engineering work is required . Please report any leaks to a committee member.
PLOT VANDALISM, MALICIOUS DAMAGE AND SHED BREAK-INS
Recently there have been a number of plots badly vandalised; plot-holders are therefore asked :
To individually report any incidence of vandalism to their plot they have experienced to the local police, using the 101 number providing details of their plot number and any losses and damage they have sustained.
If possible, take a photograph of the damage sustained, prior to clearing up the damage, and provide it to the police if requested.
Make a committee member aware of the incident. However, individual committee members cannot report the incident on behalf of the plot-holder as the police do not permit this.
In response to ongoing antisocial behaviour and substance abuse impacting plotholder members at Dartford Road Allotments, the WDAGS Society has launched a closed Whatsapp Group for plotholders and local residents, to share security information in a timely manner with each other and with the Police. To join, email your mobile phone number to info@wdags.org.uk. A new Security page has also been added to their website on which guidance will be provided for victims of crime, plus further information on recently reported incidents. This is a link to it :
Bonfires
The next one will be on the first full weekend of October 2026 unless the weekend is wet when it will be the following one.
It is imperative that you fully obey the site's Code of Practice which was not always the case. These are documented elsewhere in this Website under 'Documentation' but relevant points are listed below.
The Code was devised to reduce as far as possible inconvenience to local residents and plot-holders alike.
Keep fires away from paths, fences, trees and hedges
Never use an accelerant such as petrol or paraffin
Only burn dry material not suitable for a compost
Do not leave the fire unattended
Keep a substantial supply of water nearby in case of emergencies
It was observed in a recent site inspections, that a significant number of paths between plots were either completely blocked or badly obstructed. It is the responsibility, as defined in the tenancy agreement, of a plot-holder to keep the paths adjacent to the plot free from any obstructions and in particular to ensure that brambles etc. do not overhang them. Failure to fully comply with this requirement could result in a plot-holder being required to relinquish the tenancy of their plot.
Dartford Road Allotments Association was formed in 1991 to manage Dartford Road Allotments.
