Hi, I'm Jessica! I love creating things and I love our planet. Darn Cabbage helps me combine these. I create and alter a wide range of personal and commission work.

Did you know: According to the EPA, in 2018, 11.3 million tons of textile waste ended up in landfills in the USA; the main source of textile waste being clothing. if you average that out over the total population its just over 69 pounds per person getting thrown out per year. The amount of textile ending up in landfills has been steadily rising, since 1960; it has gone up more than 500%.[1]

We can make a small dent in that number by reusing, mending, and remaking our clothes and other textiles. That's what I want to do.

Why cabbage? Cabbage is what many sewers call the leftover fabric after a pattern has been cut out. I plan to use all of it. Small pieces of fabric for small sewing projects, the tiniest pieces as stuffing. Darning is a type of sewing and I am a nerd who enjoys puns.

I use 100% recycled fabric to make my creations. The fabric helps me decide what I am going to make. My commission work primarily consists of alterations, such as hemming pants, and custom work, such as a specific size and color of and item I have already made. I have also made items on request that I have never tried before. Please feel free to contact me if you would have any questions!
