The significance of the renovation of the small pier by the sea project is, first and foremost, that for the building, it is irresponsible to abandon it, push it down and start again, which is a massive waste of the environment. The significance of the renovation lies not only in the preservation and heritage of the building itself but also in the city's heritage. China is undergoing a period of rapid urbanisation, and many old abandoned buildings are in many towns and rural areas.
This is not the only way to modernise cities. Any kind of architecture is initially practical. It has an aesthetic significance attached to it. But over time, in addition to its practicality and aesthetics, it takes on a third meaning, which is to become a spiritual symbol of a city. Each building carries the city's history and memories and its inhabitants' stories. The small abandoned quay is a witness to the area's history, which has grown from a small fishing village into a modern city and is an integral part of the area. The building has been forgotten in history, which should not have happened. Therefore, in the design of the renovation of old buildings, we need to continue the city's bloodline...
They are bringing the building back to life as a witness to history. We should pay attention to the historical bearing of the building itself so that people can pay more attention to the history and culture of the whole area and, through renovation, draw people's 'attention' to the building. They are bringing up another critical point: nowadays, people seldom pay attention to the 'dialogue' between themselves and others, which is a lack of emotion and should be considered. I hope that people will take note of this and change themselves to communicate and dialogue through this 'transformed building' so that it becomes a beautiful product and a witness to people's emotions. I hope that it will become a place where people can communicate.
And focusing on nature will invariably lead people away from electronics and towards the finer things in life. Through the building, people can enjoy the scenery, read a book, or go on a date, which to a certain extent, can relieve people's loneliness and anxiety in a fast-paced society and will also maximise the emotional value of the building itself. It will also maximise the emotional weight of the building itself, allowing for a 'dialogue' between people...
