My Word document: The Philippines.docx
I seem to have lost track of my partner. I'm not sure if I responded too slow and she found another partner, or she never responded to my email, or she did respond but I can't find the message.
This project was to pick a country, and research its people, their use of technology, and their digital divide. I did my report on the Philippines, and I maybe could have thought ahead about how hard it would be to find sources, but it actually wasn't too bad. I swung by the Baltimore County public library but the only book they had on the Philippines was focused on tourism and didn't have any information relevant to the project.
The most interesting thing I learned is that the Philippines are 70-90 degrees F year-round. Perhaps I will retire there one day.
This projected helped me become more familiar with the CCBC library and their resources. I feel pretty bad about not keeping in touch with my partner and not even knowing where communication broke down.
I chose artificial wombs for my project because it was the first emerging technology I came across that didn't bore me to tears. Most of the emerging technology in my field (accounting) seems to be in the relm of AI/ML or blockchain, which honestly don't interest me at all.
I spent a lot of time troubleshooting how to record a presentation. I was kind of surprised that a class that includes instructions on how to upload images would gloss over how to record video. I eventually came up with the idea to put the PowerPoint on my TV, but then my camera only showed it as a white screen until I tweaked the settings a lot.
I used a pre-loaded theme for my PowerPoint, which saved me a lot of time trying to pick a font or color scheme. Overall, the program is a lot easier or more intuitive to use than it was when I was in high school.
While the concept is fascinating, I am definitely not cut out for the medical field. No thank you to all of this.
