Hello neighbors! I’m Dan Mars and I am running for Brimfield Township Trustee.
Having originally moved to Brimfield in 1980 when I was in the second grade, I grew up in and came to love our community. I remember getting ice cream at Frank’s, riding my bike to the Sparkle Market in the plaza, and having great neighbors as I grew up on Old Forge road. In high school at Field Schools, I played soccer and also enjoyed coaching a youth soccer team that played in the field behind Frank’s. It was during that time that I also developed my love for the outdoors as I participated in a local boy scout troop. I earned my Eagle Scout award. Years later I was privileged to serve as a scoutmaster for that same troop.
After graduation from Field High School, I chose to spend two years serving the people of southern Utah as a full time missionary. It was an excellent opportunity for me to learn to love, respect, and work alongside people that had thoughts and opinions that sometimes were different from my own.
Returning from Utah, I enrolled in school at BYU-Idaho where I initially earned an associate’s degree followed eventually with a Bachelor's degree. After college, I gained experience and eventually opened and operated a small business as a self-employed contractor for many years. In 2020, the opportunity arose for me to join as an employee with the Portage Park District. It was the right move for me in that it gives me the ability to spend time in nature and build and maintain parks in our county that will benefit generations to come.
One of the best choices I’ve made, however, is marrying my good wife, Leslie. In the 30+ years that we have been married, she has been my rock. We’ve raised three wonderful children (two of which are graduates of Field Schools and the other is a graduate of Bio-med). We are proud to make Brimfield our home.
Sincerely,
Dan Mars
