“You’re turning thirty soon. For your birthday, I’m giving you a trip to the place you’ve always wanted to see — Auschwitz.
A journey into our memory, a way to start talking again.
SYNOPSIS
“My brother has always been passionate about history, especially the Second World War. For years we spoke, but never deeply. His life? Drugs, rehab communities, prison, movies and books. One day I couldn’t hold back anymore and told him: ‘For your thirtieth birthday, I’m taking you to Auschwitz. It will be a slow journey, by train — a way to start talking again... and I’ll film everything.’
On the road we laugh, we shout, we cry — but above all, we talk. And eventually, we arrive. Auschwitz becomes the destination of a journey back in time, intertwined with old family footage. In that place of anti-humanity, we manage to touch our most authentic and profound humanity.”
