About me

My name is Daniel Zámbó and recently I have been living and working as a full-time researcher in Budapest, Hungary, at the Centre for Energy Research. I returned to Hungary after spending 3 years as a postdoctoral researcher at the Leibniz Universität Hannover, in Germany, in the group of Prof. Nadja Bigall (Functional Nanostructures Group). I received my BSc and MSc degrees from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics in chemical engineering. Previously, I worked in the Institute of Technical Physics and Materials Science (one of the research centers of Hungarian Academy of Sciences) in Budapest as a PhD student and later as a postdoc. Our Hungarian research group (Chemical Nanostructures Laboratory, led by Dr. Andras Deák) is working on different topics in the field of nanotechnology, plasmonics and colloid chemistry. My research interests cover the synthesis of metallic (mainly plasmonic) nanoparticles and nanostructures, semiconductor and multicomponent nanoparticles and their 3D superstructures, the fundamental physical-chemical phenomena arising in nanoparticle systems, surface modification, directed self-assembly and optics of different NPs. Nowadays, I am working on the preparation and investigation of self-supported functional aerogels built up from multicomponent semiconductor/metal nanoparticles in different shapes (QDs, dot-in-shell particles, nanoplatelets) and I am focusing on their optical, structural, photophysical and catalytic properties.
