Integrating technology into education has powerful implications in regards to learning when it is implemented purposefully. I strive to seek out the most effective and meaningful ways to enhance lessons with technology.
Integrating technology into education has powerful implications in regards to learning when it is implemented purposefully. I strive to seek out the most effective and meaningful ways to enhance lessons with technology.
Some of my favorite ways to utilize technology is when students are able to use it to guide and direct their own learning. Genius Hour projects has been one effective way this can be accomplished. I've enjoyed creating and utilizing hyperdocs to help students move through learning at their own pace giving them some control in how they are able to "show" what they know.
Leading our robotics team has also shown the engineering process with technology in real time to the students on our team. "Failing" is common in robotics, but looking at failure as necessary to improvement is the norm. I encourage my students to move forward with trying out a new design and strategy, and the growth that occurs through the process is astounding!
Students work for months planning, building, testing, and redesigning before competing at a robotics tournament. We seek community mentors involved in technology to serve as role models in this process.
