The Google Certified Educator Program helps show a proficiency in G Suite for Education products. This certification helps to ensure learning, boosts creativity, and allows me to pass that knowledge on to my students and colleagues throughout my school.
The Makey Makey integrates circuits, coding, and chromebooks to open up a world of creativity for students. Through my training with this technology, I was introduced to the simplicity and interactive nature of this robot. I have enjoyed integrating it into the classroom with my students.
Being able to attend the ICE Conference in the fall of 2019 was a wonderful opportunity to connect and learn from other educators about how to use technology in new ways in the classroom. I have enjoyed implementing ideas I heard.
Along with Katie Reynolds, I have served as the robotics coach for Acton's Beastie Bots for the past 4 years. I applied for the initial grant just before Acton reopened, and after attending the training, it has been fun to see how our Robotics teams have evolved and grown. I enjoy watching students engage in the engineering, coding, and problem solving that Vex Robotics naturally creates. It has also allowed for great community partnerships and learning from professionals in technological fields. We compete in several competitions each season, and on occasion we make it into finals! The growth from beginning to end of the season is always a joy to watch.
I have enjoyed spending time learning from and working with Nadine through designing eLearning Day lessons and working on 4th grade Science Hyperdocs. Utilizing technology in these ways with students presents new opportunities.
As a member of our school's Academic Team, I am able to collaborate with teachers in all grade levels to discuss and share what is working and challenges we are facing as we implement district level initiatives. Hearing from colleagues helps me bring valuable insight back to my team. I have also been a part of the district planning and implementation of our CFA process in Literacy. Through working with Larry Ainsworth, I was able to contribute to the planning and creation of several cycle CFA's for 4th grade.
