Legacy elevation models, characterized by lower resolutions (10 & 30 m), are often inadequate for precision management activities. A great example of this is the difficulty in generating an accurate least-cost path in steep and rugged terrain. A 10m resolution model may be too coarse, leading to paths that traverse features that are not manageable or within specifications. In contrast, a 1m resolution model can accurately identify even the smallest rock outcroppings, enabling the creation of a precise and effective least-cost path.
