Here you will find some videos made througout the years that have shaped, in one way or another, my learning journey and were fun to make as well.
This video was made for the Educational Psychology class and presented at the 2020 English Language Symposium. Although it is a topic people might already know about, I believe it is always important to keep talking about it and shed light upon it as well.
As educators, one must know about bullying, how to make appropiate interventions, who should we ask for help, how can the school community help and prevent situations like these, and so on. The research done in order to make this video greatly helped me find more resources to know in-depth about the aforementioned aspects. What is more, alongside my classmate Ingrid, this was an amazing opportunity to deliver the information that we found to other professionals in our country.
Not only this video was fun to make due to the animation, but also it was really insightful as we were able to compare two completely different ages in the history of humanity, in regards to education. It was a task given in the Pedagogy class. Getting to know more about the Ancient Egypt in terms of its education system and contrast it with modern times gave me the opportunity to reflect how much education has evolved through the years, and how it will continue to change as times passes.
In my opinion, it is crucial for educators to know about how this field has evolved through time and, from that, think critically about ways in which it can still be improved and how to further help students most efficiently.
This is one of my favorite assignments I had the opportunity to do in all the years at the ISL. It was part of the Teaching Practice course in 2021. It was genuinely fun to research about American Sign Language and be able to deliver to other people a little bit about it as well. I can confidently say that not only it was an insightful experience, but it was very eye-opening too. In addition, I was able to learn, myself, some basics in both American and Paraguayan sign language. In the process of making the video, I also got to realize how wonderful sign language is and it gave me the motivation to keep learning about it.
Through this activity, many people outside the class circle were able to learn about ASL, as the videos were presented at the university’s 2021 English Language Symposium. Hence, not only us, students of the ISL, were able to learn a lot through this project, but also other people of different cities and even different fields apart from education had some insight into the world of sign language. Hopefully, more people can start to realize its importance and be able to learn and, together, create a better, more inclusive society.
For everyone involved in the educational field, it is very important to know about different methods and approaches that exist and could -or not- be applied in the classroom and why, in accordance to students needs.
This video was made for the Language Pedagogy class and, by making it, I gained a lot of knowledge about this language approach I did not know much about before. Like stated at the beginning, it is always helpful to be familiar with many approaches that could be implemented in the language classroom, so we can help students better.
I wanted to include this video here because, although it was not an assignment per se, it was something Tania and I were very happy to make. It was presented at the 2022 English Language Symposium and it was a great experience, as we had the opportunity to pass along important information about Sign Language and present some ideas to other teachers in our country about ways in which we can incorporate it inside our language classrooms; and, this way, create a more inclusive environment as well as spread awareness on the topic.
