This section contains some works and documents I deemed important for my learning process and growth.
I remember this being one of the assignments I enjoyed doing the most; it was part of the Pedagogy class in 2020. Maria Montessori was truly an amazing individual, who left behind a great legacy and approach to education. I would personally really like to be able to put into practice her methods and approach to education one day, if given the opportunity. Moreover, even if I cannot put her method into practice at its fullest, there are some aspects of it I could still implement, always taking into account students' needs.
As a person who would like to keep working in the educational field, I believe it is important to keep myself informed about this topic and ways in which it can be prevented, as well as interventions and who to ask for help.
This is an infographic presented in the Educational Psychology class, in which important information about bullying was summarized as a way to complement a video made about the topic as well.
This assignment was part of the international exchange we participated in during the Curriculum class. Here, we were able to compare the curricula of different countries and, for me, it was an insightful activity as I had to read a lot about the U.S curriculum, as well as the Australian one and contrast and compare it with ours. I was able to think critically about the different curricula and some aspects we could, perhaps, apply here too. In addition, what can be changed or improved in all of them, and their strengths and weaknesses.
What is more, I was able to share points of view with people from UTD, Texas and have a dialogue about this topic and exchange opinions with them through a videoconference. Overall, it was truly an enriching experience which has sparked the motivation to keep learning more about everything involving the curriculum.
This assignment was also part of the UTD and ISL virtual exchange for the Curriculum class. The overall experience of the exchange was one-of-a-kind and it made me realize how amazing it is to have opportunities to be involved in activitities like these.
In a future, I would like for my students to also be able to have similar experiences; therefore, the importance of keep learning about this topic in order to have in-depth information about it and, perhaps, one day be able to organize something similar too for other people to experience.
Another assignment made for the Curriculum class. This time, it was about Pragmatism, which is philosophy of education. A lot of what was seen in this class are crucial aspects in order to expand our knowledge as people who will, in a future, keep working in the educational field -or are interested to dive in it. Thus, researching about this philosophy of education gave me a new perspective about education and ways in which I could potentially build a classroom with the values and beliefs encompassed through the lenses of Pragmatism.
An important aspect of being an educator is to know about classroom management and have different tools to ensure a good environment for students. Therefore, it is always crucial to keep learning about this topic and be informed in order to become effective teachers; this way, help them create the most effective learning path, in which they can grow in all aspects and become all-rounder individuals.
This infographic was made for the Practice Teaching II class, in which we learned a lot about teaching and everything it encompasses, in order to become efficient professionals.
Developing critical thinking skills is a key part of being a professional in any field. It is also crucial in order to be active members of society, able to make decisions accordingly, that will be beneficial for the sake of everyone and their needs. By writing this task for the Practice Teaching II course, I was able to practice the aforementioned skill, which I believe is always important to keep improving. Moreover, the topic of the article itself is something relevant for the times in which we are living right now and, thus, should be talked more about as well.
