We are so excited to be able to join the offical nationwide Tapathon event again this year, organised by The Performer's Project to fundraise for BBC Children in Need.
It is also an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the most amount of people dancing the same tap routine at the same time (over 7500) & the great thing is the more people involved, the more helped raise funds to support children and young people across the UK, to rebuild their lives.
We invite all dancers to join us - you don't need to be able to Tap but you might want to after you've learn the routine! There's simplified and standard routine and we're loving the music and theme this year; it absolutely reflects our feelings at Dance Fusion.
Despite 'Tapathon' sounding like a marathon, we actually dance for around 8 minutes but working towards it, dancing the routine together, and for a good cause makes those minutes special.
So 'perk' yourself up, get off that 'sofa' and come and make some 'friends' and let's 'be there' for Children in Need by taking part in the Tapathon. Guessed the routine song yet??!
You can learn the routine through our weekly classes or at a workshop in September, October or November. In addition to the classes or workshops, there is a registration fee for participation which includes a Tapathon 2026 t-shirt (to be worn for the Tapathon) and small donation towards running costs. This must be paid and t-shirt size confirmed by end of September.
We last participated in the Tapathon in 2021, and 25 of our Dance Fusion family; from children to adults, beginners to advanced dancers learnt and danced an extended routine to 'I'm Still Standing' on 21st November at 1pm at All Saints Hall, Orpington, along with the rest of the nation participating. We also involved our other dancers too who performed a medley of routines from our classes from friends & family who came to support us.
Together we were pleased to raise nearly £1700 for Children in Need through generous donations on our just giving page & on the day with our tea, coffee & cakes, many of which were provided by our dancers & their families.
Whilst we fell short of the World record by a few hundred this year (amazing considering the covid circumstances), we are really proud to have beaten our previous fundraising record by a couple of hundred & want to thank everyone who supported our fundraising challenge and donated to a great cause in providing children access the help they need.
