Do I have to take the GRE?

The test can be waived if one of the following conditions is met:

• • A cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher on a 4.0 scale for a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university in the U.S.

  • Official admission into and demonstrated success in a regionally accredited graduate program in the U.S. Demonstrated success is defined as grades of A or B in at least 9 hours of graduate work.

  • Graduation from a regionally accredited college/university in the U.S. at least 15 years ago or more.

How much does the program cost?

• Online graduate credit rate: $465.80 (updated 02/2021)

• Reduced tuition for SD K-12 teachers, graduate assistants, and Nation Guard members

• 30 credit hours x $465.80 = $13,974 total cost for the program

How do I get the reduced tuition?

This page on the SDBOR site has all the info. MSET students must fill out a form and get it signed by their Superintendent each semester that they want to receive the reduced tuition. They can take up to 6 credits per school year (Fall, Spring, Summer) at the reduced tuition rate.

How long does the program take?

The average is 2-4 years.​

How many classes do I take each semester?

Most students take 1-2 classes during the fall and spring semesters. During the summer, students usually take more classes.

Can I complete the program fully online?

Yes, the MSET program is offered fully online. There are also opportunities for face-to-face classes during the summer. ​
