What a rewarding and inspirational program. After five weeks’ academic, practical, innovative, incentive and intensive training, I feel I improved a lot not only in my teaching skills, but also in my mindset. It helped me become a more knowledgeable and skilled language teacher. Because this program provided coaching and instant feedback on my performance, after participating in this program, my confidence in innovative virtual online teaching has increased. This program also provided sufficient opportunities to apply new knowledge through teaching, so it really impacts my professional experience.

In order to make a miracle happen in the virtual online teaching, this program using backward design for curriculum and lesson design. The team created a standards-based and thematically organized curriculum, and incorporated the World Readiness Standards for Learning Languages and NCSSFL-ACTFL Can-Do Statements into the curriculum and learning plans. Before teaching the lesson, the team cooperated all the time in order to create the most comprehensible, logical and learner-centered lessons. We not only adapted and used age and level appropriate authentic materials, also integrated culture into the lesson. When we delivered the lesson, we used 100% target language; we also scaffold the lesson and step by step to help students complete the performance-based assessment. All of the process and strategies can be adopted into my face to face regular class.
