Wanda Carter has been actively painting since 1978. She has studied with several master portrait and landscape artist; Ben Konis, Harley Brown, Daniel Greene, Albert Handell, Paul Leveille, Michael Del Priore and Peggy Baumgaertner.
Wanda prefers painting from life, whether it be a landscape, still life or portrait. Painting from life strenthens one's powers of observation. She has taught landscape, still life and portrait classes and workshops in Michigan and Florida.
Wanda had a one woman exhibit at the Women's Historical Center and Hall of Fame in Lansing, Michigan in 2003. Paintings in pastel, oil and acrylic featured Michigan landscapes, and some still life and portraiture.
She has received awards from the Naples Art Association, Charlotte County Visual Arts Center, Women Artists of the West, Englewood Art Center and the Detroit Society of Women Painters and Sculptors, Northport Art Center, the DeSoto Arts and Humanities Council, and the SW Florida Pastel Society.
She is a great supporter of the environmental groups and animal groups who are striving to help save them.
