Getting to and around Blacksburg:

Public Transport to Blacksburg goes through the neighboring city of Roanoke, by either air or rail.

Transportation from Roanoke Airport.

The Roanoke airport is about 40 minutes away from the Virginia Tech campus by car, and about an hour away by bus. Shuttle service is also available. The options are shown here: Airport Transportation

Perhaps the most convenient (if it fits your schedule), and certainly the most economical, is the Smart Way Bus. Please note that this bus requires exact cash fare of $4.00.

Transportation from Roanoke Amtrak.

A Smart Way bus to Blacksburg meets the train, with fare that can be included with purchase of the rail ticket.

If you are taking the Smart Way…

Be sure to tell the driver your destination, so that you can be dropped at the nearest stop. And remember, exact cash fare is required!
