Dr. Rankine-Galloway was Cultural Attaché at the US Embassy in Copenhagen (1989-1994). She worked diligently to promote American Studies in Denmark and was also instrumental in establishing the Center for American Studies at the University of Southern Denmark. Each year since 2000, the Center hosts an invited lecture and gives out student awards in Dr. Rankine-Galloway’s honor.
