How to Join

Concert Orchestra

This group is non auditioned, and is where most of our freshmen start out! For students who have taken a break from orchestra, this is also their home ensemble for their first year back. This group works on skills developed in grade 1-3 string ensemble repertoire. Everyone is welcome to enroll in our Concert Orchestra, speak to your guidance counselor and Ms.Zall about adding it into your schedule!

Symphonic Orchestra

This is our auditioned group, that refines skills developed in grades 2-6 literature. Unlike the concert orchestra, there is a private lesson instructor requirement* to participate in the ensemble. This ensemble also performs both string ensemble and full orchestra pieces, allowing the band and orchestra students to collaborate through excellent works.

Interested in auditioning? Please email Ms.Zall!

Honors Symphonic Orchestra

This program is designed to be similar to the rigor of a first-year music performance major, and requires that students participate in auditions, juries, solo and ensemble contests and recitals. Students in this program are graded on a 5.0 grading scale.

To be considered for the program, students must be a member of Symphonic Orchestra class. Interested students must submit an application within the first two weeks of the school year, and at that point, admission is at the discretion of the ensemble director.

*Ms.Zall understands that private lessons may not be accessible for all students that participate in the program. Every student reserves the right to audition and perform in an ensemble that best meets their needs. Therefore, the private lesson requirement can be modified if a student auditions and is award a spot in the ensemble. The student will be required to communicate with the instructor and will collaborate together to create an appropriate adaptation to the expectation.
