🛠 Sat, April 11*: Pier Maintenance & Pothole Palooza (with coffee & donuts for all!).
Bring a pair of work gloves if you have them. Tasks include replacing boards, applying sealant, scraping barnacles, refreshing soil and planting flowers, cleaning and updating the bulletin board, and more. Bring a plant or flower to trade (optional). Open to families and ALL ages. 🍩 ☕ Special thanks to Craig Myers for leading this effort. *Rain date is Sat, April 18.
🛍 Summer TBD — Community Yard Sale
The community-wide yard sale is typically held in early May. This aligns well with other surrounding neighborhoods that host yard sales in May and with our "dumpster days" so that residents can dispose of items that aren't sold or donated. We advertise via Facebook groups and will post signage at the corner of RT2 to reach more treasure hunters.
🚛 Summer TBD: Dumpster Days
Dates and location will be announced via member newsletter. UNACCEPTABLE MATERIAL: Junk Automobiles, Trailers, Boats, Tires, Batteries, Paint, Refrigerators, air conditioners, freon items, gas/propane tanks, oil drums or tanks, liquids, hazardous waste, grass clippings, leaves, brush, branches, logs, stumps. ALSO, NO recyclable materials including glass, paper, plastic, cardboard, metal items.
🧪May:
River water testing begins. We work with the Anne Arundel Community College Environmental Center to conduct river water quality testing biweekly, throughout the summer. River water testing occurs every other Wednesday between 7am - 12pm at the pier by an AACC technician. Values below 104 cfu/100 ml are considered safe for swimming. After rain of more than 0.5 inches AA County recommends avoiding contact with water for 48 hours. Results accessible HERE.
Mosquito fogging is coordinated with the MD Department of Agriculture and takes place on Wednesday nights between 7:00 pm and 2:30 am, from May to October. Please stay indoors while fogging operations are conducted. To file for an exemption or read more about products used, please visit here.
🍦 June TBD: Ice Cream Social
Meet at the last house on the left next to the community pier. Come out to enjoy complimentary frozen yogurt and snow balls and get to know your neighbors.
