BSCI 2520: Biochemistry

This course introduces key facets of biochemistry, including protein structure, enzymology, and important metabolic pathways (the part I teach). I co-teach the course, usually with Jared Nordman. The course has a flipped structure, with students watching videos and completing (optional) skeleton notes before class and working collaboratively in class on daily problem sets or homework questions. The syllabus from 2022, embedded above, gives a sense of what the course is like.

BSCI 1400/SCED 2330: Science pedagogy

This pedagogy seminar, designed for learning assistants (LAs), teaches new LAs key pedagogical moves while helping them consider how they can support more inclusive and equitable science learning spaces. Students read and comment on articles before class and then spend class time discussing implications for their classroom practice, often while practicing ways to translate the ideas into practical action. The syllabus from 2022, embedded above, gives a sense of what the course is like.
