2024 Cruising Fleet Courses Page
Sailing Instructions: Weekly course to be published begins on Sunday and ends Saturday midnight. Sail the published course any time during the week and click here to fill out the 2024 score form to be put on the board. One point per weekly completion (no time need be reported, but course must be completed in a single, continuous sail). A crew board will be kept as well as captain/vessel. Cruising fleet "patch" for anyone (Captain or Crew) who scores two points. Cruising Fleet Swag awards for series winner(s), who are the sailor(s) who top the leaderboard with the most points during each series; there may be more than one winner.
You must file a report within the week you are sailing to be scored!
C-Series begins Sunday, August 4; ending Saturday, September 14
Course C1: Sunday August 4 - Saturday, August 10. Let the C-Series begin! We're all back to zero yet again... this is your chance to be on top of the leaderboard. All vessels sail course S-D-W-S (port-side roundings). Sunfish fleet: Sail around the mooring field starting at the Mobi Mat launchpad and sailing along the shore until you're past the entire mooring field, then head out to deep water; round the last mooring in the outer row, and sail back to S for your finish.
Course C2: Sunday August 11 - Saturday, August 17. Vessels 26 feet LOA and less, sail S-W-D-J-S (port-side roundings). Vessels greater than 26 feet LOA sail S-F-D-S (port-side roundings). Sunfish fleet, sail course S-W-S-W-S.
Course C3: Sunday August 18 - Saturday August 24. All vessels sail S-D-S-D-S. Sunfish fleet, sail course S-Hooker-W-S.
Course C4: Sunday August 25 - Saturday August 31. This is the return of the "lost and confused" course. All vessels to sail complete 360 degree circles around all marks. You are not required to do more than360 degrees, but you must close the circle before continuing on your journey. It also doesn't matter how big the circle is, you just need to close a circle around the mark before continuing. All vessels sail course S-F-W-S (port-side roundings). Sunfish fleet: you are also "lost and confused" this week (see above). All sunfish fleet boats to sail complete 360 degree circles around all marks before continuing. Sunfish fleet course: S-N-S-W-S. Note that there must be a 360 circle sailed around the middle S-mark of the course.
Course C5: Sunday September 1 - Saturday, September 7. All vessels sail course S-I-W-N-S. Sunfish fleet, sail course S-N-S-Tdock-S.
Course C6: Sunday, September 8 - Saturday, September 14. The great equalizer course! If windspeed is 5 kts or less at start of course, all vessels sail course S-W-N-S. All vessels sailing this course will score 1 point. If windspeed is greater than 5 kts, all vessels sail course S-J-D-S. All vessels completing this course will score 1.5 points. All vessels allowed to report in for each of the windspeeds this week, making the greatest possible score for the week 2.5 points; but you must sail the course on different dates! Note - you can NOT post for the longer course if windspeed is not greater than 5kts at the start of your sailing. You also can NOT post for the shorter course if windspeed is not within the allowed range for that course. Sunfish fleet: we will give you an equalizer course, too (see above): you can post for two points for this week, but must sail the course on two separate dates. Sunfish fleet course: S-R-S-N-S.
B-Series begins Sunday, June 23; ending Saturday, August 3
Course B1: Sunday June 23 - Saturday June 29. The first course of the B-series! We're all back to zero - so get out and sail to the top of the leaderboard! All vessels sail course: S-W-R-S (port-side roundings). Sunfish fleet: sail course S-W-Shoreline-Hooker-S. Sunfish fleet please fill out the report with "Sunfish" for your vessel name.
Course B2: Sunday June 30 - Saturday July 6. This week is the "lost and confused" course. All vessels to sail complete 360 degree circles around all marks. Course B3: Sunday July 7 - Saturday July 13. Vessels larger than 26 feet LOA sail course S-D-W-J-S. Vessels less than 26 feet LOA sail course S-R-W-S (port side roundings). Sunfish fleet: this week's course is to circumnavigate the entire mooring field twice around, counterclockwise (keeping the mooring field on your port side). S-S-S.
Course B4: Sunday July 14 - Saturday July 20. All vessels sail course S-J-S-I-S (starboard side roundings). Sunfish fleet: sail course S-W-N-[touch deep water dock]-[touch T-dock] - Hooker - S (starboard side roundings).
Course B5: Sunday July 21 - Saturday July 27. This week is the "To Whites and Back" course. All vessels sail course S-C-S (port-side roundings). Sunfish fleet course: S-N-W-N-W-S (port side roundings).
Course B6: Sunday July 28 - Saturday August 3. This week is the "You gotta work for it" course. Vessels larger than 26 feet LOA sail course S-D-J-I-F-W-S. Vessels 26 feet or smaller sail course S-N-J-F-W-S. Sunfish fleet course: S-W-N-W-N-W-N-S (also described as W-N 3x around) - (port side roundings).
A-Series begins Sunday, May 12 and Ends Saturday, June 22 2024
For the A-Series, we will run until the first day of Summer, and then start the B-Series! Remember that in order to be scored, you must file your report (see above) within the week that you sail; all submissions are date/time-stamped when you click "submit".
Course A1: Sunday May 12 through Saturday May 18, 2024. For all courses, the start/finish line is a line drawn from the CYC Masthead through the S-Mark and extending across the river. All courses must begin and end by crossing the start/finish line, listed as "S" in the course. This week's course (good luck completing it while dry): S-W-D-S (otherwise known as WD once around). Round with the buoy on the port side. This is a pretty easy course to get your chops wet. Good luck boys and girls and don't forget that for it to count, you must file the form within the week of the course, no later than 11:59pm Saturday. Click here for map of the courses.
Course A2: Sunday, May 19 - Saturday May 25, 2024. Sail course S-N-I-W-S (port side roundings). Be prepared... longer and harder courses are coming. Big fast boats... we will be fair to the smaller boats too... just wait.
Course A3: Sunday, May 26 - Saturday,- June 1, 2024. Boats 26 feet and under: sail course S-I-F-S (port-side roundings). Boats greater than 26 feet: sail course S-F-I-D-W-S (port-side roundings). Don't forget to put your boat name in on the score report sheet.
Course A4: Sunday, June 2 - Saturday June 6, 2024. All boats sail course: S-I-J-W-S (starboard-side roundings). An unusual course and maybe a little challenging depending on the wind and current. Call this course a Russell Polo special - tenacity wins the day. Sunfish fleet: special course for open centerboard boats: S-N-W-S (port side roundings). Sunfish fleet please fill out the report with "Sunfish" for your vessel name.
Course A5: Sunday June 9 - Saturday June 15, 2024. This course is to be sailed depending on the windspeed as of the the moment you begin sailing the course. If, when you cross the start line, the wind is greater than 5 kts, sail course: S-F-S-F (port-side roundings). If, when you cross the start line the wind is less than 5 kts, sail course S-W-N-S (port-side roundings). Sunfish fleet: special course for open centerboard boats only: S - T-dock (touch the end) - Hooker (rounding) - N - S (starboard side roundings). Sunfish fleet please fill out the report with "Sunfish" for your vessel name.
Course A6: Sunday June 16 - Saturday June 22. This is it - last course of the A-series! All vessels sail course: S-W-N-W-R-S. Sunfish fleet: special course for open centerboard boats only: S-[round Impulse]-S-Hooker-S (port side roundings). Sunfish fleet please fill out the report with "Sunfish" for your vessel name.
