Level -1, Cyber Cert. Failure:
If a student is off-task on a laptop, the teacher will help that student get on task and then tell them to not use the laptop for entertainment in the future.
If a student is using a cell phone (non-emergency), they will be asked to store it. If it is stored, nothing goes out to admin. If it is not stored, admin will confiscate it. Teacher will tell the student to stop using the cell phone in class.
If not, fail Cyber Cert after 5 minutes
Lose 30 Points
Make up points with assignment and move to level 1.
If points are not made up, student can drop to level -2 and below by teacher observation and selection, not random selection.
Level -2, Formal Citation:
First, student is asked to store or put phone away if it is being used for entertainment or casual communication. If student is off-task on a laptop, they will be directed to get on task.
After 5 minutes phone surrender option is offered. If student is using phone while not on pace, the phone can be given up be locked in a drawer to avoid an additional loss of 30 points (60 total at -2, complete two assignments) and a parent contact.
If phone isn't given up:
Loss of 30 cyber certification points (60 total at -2, complete two assignments) with requirement to complete assignment to return points.
Give them a copy of a formal citation at a job for phone use issues. This same citation will be given to parents. See site for citation.
Level -3, Final Citation:
First, student is asked to store or put phone away if it is being used for entertainment or casual communication. If student is off-task on a laptop, they will be directed to get on task.
After 5 minutes, student is offered 2nd phone surrender option: if phone surrendered, go to Formal Citation -2.
If student is using phone while not completing assignments, phone can be given up to avoid an additional loss of 30 points (90 total at -3, 3 assignments to recover).
If refused:
Loss of an additional 30 cyber certification points (90 total at -3, 3 assignments to recover). with requirement to complete assignment to return points.

First, student is asked to store or put phone away if it is being used for entertainment or casual communication. If student is off-task on a laptop, they will be directed to get on task.
Teacher will offer to take student phone. If phone is surrendered, go to Final Citation -3.
If not, and student off pace, student is in phone crisis.
Loss of 30 cyber certification points with requirement to complete assignment to return points. At this point, the student has lost 100 cyber certification points to be made up by 4 assignments.
Messages of phone crisis will be sent to admin and parents with a formal letter.
No assignments will be accepted except for Cyber Certification assignments until quarter.
Cyber Certification material is the lowest priority of the teacher.
