Welcome to the CWell Lab. The Communication and Computation for Well-Being Lab is led by Dr. Jingbo Meng from the School of Communication at The Ohio State University. Our lab is dedicated to advancing knowledge at the intersection of communication technology and human well-being. We pursue two overarching goals:
Research: We investigate how communication technologies (e.g., social media, mobile phones, AI chatbots) shape and transform human communication and interactions, from the development of interpersonal relationships, social networks, and communities to the ways people seek and evaluate information. Using both traditional and computational methods, we seek to understand how these processes influence individuals’ physical and psychological well-being.
Mentorship: We are equally committed to fostering the next generation of scholars. Through extensive hands-on training, we guide students and junior researchers in every stage of the research process—from conceptualization and design to data analysis and interpretation. Just as importantly, we cultivate a collaborative environment that connects emerging researchers with a broad network of scholars across disciplines and institutions.
