Instructions

  1. Select Inverting amplifier and Filtering tab

  2. Slide the cutoff frequency to 10. Observe the waveform graph output

  3. Increase the cutoff to 100 and observe the output and reduce the cutoff to 0 and observe the output

Low Pass Filter Simulation theory

This experiment illustrates the concept of a Low Pass Filter. A low-pass filter is a filter that allows signals with a frequency lower than the cut-off frequency (the frequency at which the output voltage is 70.7% of the source voltage) to pass through it. It also attenuates those signals whose frequency is higher than the cut-off frequency. Low-pass filters help in removing short-term fluctuations and provide a smoother form of signal.

Low-pass Filtering: Learning Outcomes

  1. This exercise teaches students to understand the Low-Pass Filtering concept.

  2. The knowledge can be applied in Signal Anti-Aliasing
