Classes. Our amazing group of coaches will conduct a placement test in order to find out the right level of challenge for our students. Accordingly, we will have three groups called infinity, power, and factorial.
Time. These groups meet in person on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 pm to 8 pm.
Location. We will be using rooms 601, 603, and 604.
Pick up. The only gate for the students to leave in the evenings at 8pm will be the gate by the gym (in the corner) by the lunch lines. All M.L. students will leave from that gate, and parents can wait for their students at the Administration parking lot. We cannot allow parents/siblings on campus at any time during the hours from 6:30pm—8:00pm to wait for their students.
Registration. Registration consists of three components and one commitment:
Completion of the registration form, which can be found here.
The signature form must be signed by the student and the parent. The signature form can be found here. The signed Signature form should be placed in an envelope and turned in to the Math League box in the CVMS front office by Sept 16, 2024 (Monday).
A suggested donation of $50. Donation can be paid either online through the CVMS PTSA, or via a check paid to the order of CVMS PTSA with a note to Math League and your student's full name. If you are donating via a check, please put it in the same envelope as your signature form.
Each student is required to have a parent volunteer for ML at least once each year.
Placement test. Our coaches will give a placement test to find the right level of challenge for our students. The exam will be in-person during the first meeting on Wednesday, September 18, 2024. Students must bring their Chromebooks, as they may have to use them to submit their exams.
Materials. In each class, students work on themed problems in the style of math middle school or high school competitions, e.g. Mathcounts, AMC, or AIME. Competitions should be viewed as excellent excuses to help our students learn, get challenged, and grow.
