Biomedical Imaging and Image Analysis

By Said Pertuz

Welcome to my personal webpage. I am an associate professor at Universidad Industrial de Santander (Bucaramanga, Colombia). I am also the head of the Connectivity and Signal Processing group (http://cps.uis.edu.co/ ).

My research interests cover different problems of computer vision and image analysis for biomedical imaging. Currently, my main interest in biomedical imaging is in the application of parenchymal analysis and breast percent density estimation in breast cancer risk assessment. The aim is to develop fully-automated, computerized methods for effective risk assessment in clinical practice. In computer vision, my current research efforts are devoted to studying, modeling and understanding the focus cue in conventional and plenoptic digital cameras in order to improve different tasks, such as image acquisition, autofocus, depth estimation and focus stacking.
