This Project was split into four parts.
Human - Animal - Hybrid - Mask
The first was breaking down and learning the anatomy of a human face in order to sculpt it accurately.
The second part was to chose an animal and sculpt its head.
The third was to combine the two into a Anthropomorphic creature.
The final step, after sculpting the Hybrid, was to cast the piece, to create a latex mask of the creature.
Starting with the Human head. This was a lesson in breaking down the anatomy and sculpting the facial features proportionately.
Anatomically, this sculpt has improved since my first attempt the previous year.
My Previous Attempt
The second section of this project involved sculpting a cat head.
I began with sculpting the skull, then building out the muscles surrounding the facial features.
Finally, I focused on texture, sculpting out the skin wrinkles and whisker bumps.
NOTE: We could only choose animals that didn't have hair. Hence, my choice for a wrinkly Shynx cat.
The final portion of the project involved morphing the two creatures together to create a Humanoid Sphynx Character.
I used the techniques learned from the previous sculpts to assist this piece. Taking the proportions learned from the Human Head sculpt, to map out the Hybrids' features. Utilising what I learned from the Sphynx Sculpt, I improved upon my technique when sculpting the wrinkles.
After sculpting the Hybrid, I made a clay wall surrounding the piece and sprayed everything inside with lacer.
The Sculpt was covered in Crystacal plaster and once it was cured, the clay was removed.
The mould was then filled and a latex cast of the mask was unveiled.
Finally, the Mask was painted and a prop monocle was fitted, to complete the character.
