This custom Embroidered Quilt was made by use of scraps from 3 previous quilts given to other family members. When my brother was getting Chemo treatments for pancreatic cancer, I just wanted him to be warm after treatment. I used the scraps from my other brothers quilt, the first quilt I made years ago for he and his wife and the quilt I made for his son and his wife's wedding. On the backing I used the softest fabric I could find, minky.

Using a very old family patchwork quilt, I used the old fabric and backed it with stabilizer to strengthen and lengthen the life of the fabric. The fabric tells a story and was used to create a whole new pattern for a new gereration.
One father passed away leaving behind several shirts, one that was his favorite. Each child had part of his favorite, the red shirt and some of the others in a pattern.
A lot of character from previous old fabric is salvageable. The shirts can be cut into shapes and create a whole new pattern. The shirt buttons can be used for decorative accents . The pocket of a shirt was placed on the front of this lap quilt to store the remote.
