Hi, I'm Sheryl Petkus! I love quilting and customizing the fabric in your life.
I've lived in Rochester, New York most of my life. I grew up in Henrietta and went to R-H, class of 1984.
I started quilting because I wanted to make a quilt of my son's life when I was pregnant in 2001. I made a few squares and put them away in a pizza box. I could not wait until he was married to make the quilt of his life, so I collected all the favorite clothes we dressed him in and used them to make 2 different quilts: one music themed for his 15th birthday and one of all high school T-shirts to go away to college with.
Most of my work is self-initiated. I like to shop hop and create one of a kind quilts with intricate design or use previous cloth tied to memories to create a custom design for others. I enhance quilting with custom embroidery designs. I can digitize images from a jpeg to create embroidery design.
I can use the fabric of your life to create something unique and special. I could teach you to create your own quilt or I could rent you time on my long arm quilting machine. When renting time on my machine, you are acquiring guidance and the skills I can pass on.
I am a retired teacher from RCSD and building my quilt business with the intention of quilting in my studio full time. I will work on your project and I like to give myself 3 months to turn a quilt around.
