Anthony L. Rivers, Psy.D. is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist at Customized Behavioral Healthcare in Columbus, Ohio, the private practice he founded in 2008. Anthony has 29 years of experience in social services, and spent the last 17 years providing mental health care across the state of Ohio.

Although he is a loyal Ohio State Buckeyes fan, Anthony was born and raised in Florida, in the projects of West Tampa. Anthony’s journey to success wasn't traditional, and at 18 years old he set out to do something that nobody else in his family had done - graduate from college. With big goals and an unwillingness to fail, he boarded a Greyhound bus for the 30 hour ride to Buckhannon, West Virginia where he would spend the next 4 years.
While in West Virginia, Anthony met his wife, who he has been married to for 29 years. Anthony's experiences blending cultures through an interracial marriage and raising three biracial daughters, have shaped his views on diversity, family, inclusion and appreciating differences.
Anthony’s coaching career began with a soccer team of 4-year-old girls. It was during this time that he learned the importance of being prepared for anything, practicing patience, and always remembering to bring snacks. He also learned how to integrate support systems into goal setting, by reminding parents who were determined that their 4 year old's were the next Mia Hamm the importance of setting realistic goals.
Throughout his career, Anthony has supported individuals who have been systematically disadvantaged to overcome barriers and move toward their goals.

In his time working as a social worker, he was given an up-close view of the strengths of neurodivergent families, which laid the foundation for his continued work with neurodivergent families and passion working to expand society's understanding of families with differing abilities.
Anthony’s years providing special education assessment services to students in charter schools provided evidence of the need to close this gap within our community. This fueled his commitment to creating a more equitable path to higher education, by helping students with disabilities (& their families) to overcome barriers and find the resources and support they need to be successful in college.
Anthony integrates his lived experience, professional experience, and formal training for each of his coaching clients. He implements strategies to help you challenge limiting beliefs and form more helpful thought patterns, explore and understand your family, and improve your relationships.

Anthony brings a laid back, relatable and honest approach to all coaching relationships, making your goals understandable, accessible and possible. In his spare time, Anthony enjoys annoying his wife, shopping for sneakers, cooking, worshipping, connecting with friends and family, traveling, and making shirts on his Cricut.
