Qualifying UGC NET opens opportunities for PhD admissions across institutes in India. Candidates who qualify for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) receive a fellowship of ₹37,000 per month for the first two years and ₹42,000 per month for the subsequent three years during PhD, as per prevailing norms.

UGC NET qualification also makes candidates eligible to apply for the position of Assistant Professor in higher educational institutions across India, even without holding a PhD degree, subject to applicable UGC regulations and institutional requirements.
