The mission of Officer Training Command Newport, Officer Candidate School is to morally, mentally, and physically develop future Leaders of Character and Competence — imbuing them with the highest ideals of Honor, Courage, and Commitment in order to serve as Professional Naval Officers worthy of special trust and confidence.
The Naval Officer Candidate School is a branch within the Naval Education And Training Command which serves as the main entity within the Department Of The Navy to train & educate upcoming officer candidates within all Naval compartments.
Officer Candidates have to go through a tough course which includes multiple programs designed to test their abilities and skills in order to serve the Navy as a well-suited officer. This is important as officers are leadership figures within the Navy.
