GENERAL PROGRAM QUESTIONS
CUNY Spring Forward Interns work 15 hours a week for 7 weeks.
Students will get pay $20 per hour by CUNY. However, we ask partners to cover the costs of any supplemental background check procedures (e.g. fingerprinting) that may be required by their organization.
MATCHING PROCESS
Virtual Matching Fairs will be conducted via the Career Eco platform on January 17th until January 19th. These events are an opportunity to conduct brief interviews and meet prospective Spring Forward interns. There is no limit on how many representatives can participate! Each hub will have its own Virtual Matching Fair. Please hold the date(s) depending on the hub you are joining:
The CUNY Spring Forward Internship Program matches trained students to organizations through a specialized matching process. Partners will have the opportunity to meet students at our Virtual Matching Fair and express preferences to CUNY Spring Forward staff regarding potential matches. Typically, a high percentage of initial placements are a “mutual match”. However, CUNY Spring Forward Program cannot guarantee that partners will receive all of the students they request.
Yes! You can list multiple supervisors for a job posting, we ask that you list at least one supervisor for every 3 students you request for a posting. We will be using InPlace for multiple things throughout the year and it is important for you to correctly list the supervisors in your job postings now. If you do not yet know who the supervisor list a contact that we can reach out to regarding the position.
Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to CUNY Spring Forward students.
Participate in supervisor orientation prior to the start of the program.
Ensure the worksite is safe and nurturing.
Track attendance & approve timesheets.
We cannot guarantee the exact number of students placed. The likelihood of your slots being filed will depend on several factors including, the quality of the posting, student interest/location, and your flexibility and openness to working with students. Both students and partners will submit preferences which we will use to match placements.
Placements will begin early March through late April.
Access to a vetted pool of CUNY students who have been selected after a vigorous selection process.
A highly responsive program staff to address partner organization concerns.
Human resource management and payroll processing of student wages.
