The Chittagong University Nature Club (CUNC) plunges into World Oceans Day 2024 with the theme "Awaken New Depths!"  Our vast, blue planet hides countless mysteries beneath the surface. This year, let's explore both the wonders and the threats facing our oceans.

This year's theme reminds us of the vast mysteries that lie beneath the surface, and the critical role the ocean plays in our planet's health. Healthy oceans provide most of our oxygen, regulate climate, and sustain countless species. They're also threatened by pollution, climate change, and overfishing.

CUNC is committed to ocean conservation! We organize cleanups, raise awareness, and advocate for sustainability.

Together, let's awaken a new depth of understanding and appreciation for our precious oceans!

This year's theme, "Land restoration, desertification, and drought resilience," calls on all of us, especially young people like ourselves, to be Generation Restoration.

Our planet's lands are facing immense challenges: desertification, drought, and unsustainable practices are threatening entire ecosystems.

CUNC is committed to being part of the solution! We organize tree planting initiatives, raise awareness about sustainable land use, and advocate for policies that protect our precious land resources.Together, we can heal our planet and create a brighter future for all!

৫৪তম মহান স্বাধীনতা ও জাতীয় দিবস উপলক্ষে চট্টগ্রাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় নেচার ক্লাবের পক্ষ থেকে স্বাধীনতা স্মৃতি ম্যুরালে পুষ্পস্তবক অর্পণ করে বাংলাদেশের মুক্তিযুদ্ধের বীর শহীদদের প্রতি গভীর শ্রদ্ধা নিবেদন। 

‘জাতীয় পরিবেশ উৎসব-২০২৩-এর চট্টগ্রাম আঞ্চলিক বাছাই পর্ব’ চট্টগ্রাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় নেচার ক্লাব ও ইয়ুথপ্রেনার নেটওয়ার্ক এর যৌথ আয়োজনে শনিবার (১২ই আগস্ট) চট্টগ্রামের ফতেহপুর বহুমুখী উচ্চ বিদ্যালয় প্রাঙ্গণে অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। প্রায় ৪ শতাধিক স্কুল, কলেজ ও বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় শিক্ষার্থীদের নিয়ে অনুষ্ঠিত হয় জাতীয় পরিবেশ উৎসবের এই চট্টগ্রাম আঞ্চলিক বাচাই পর্ব।

পরিবেশ অলিম্পিয়াড, কুইজ, প্রজেক্ট প্রদর্শনী, চিত্রাঙ্কন প্রতিযোগিতাসহ দিনব্যাপী নানা কার্যক্রমের মাধ্যমে তরুনরা তাদের পরিবেশ ভাবনা এবং বর্তমানের বৈশ্বিক জলবায়ু সম্পৃক্ত বিভিন্ন সমস্যা ও সমাধানের কথা তুলে ধরে।

উক্ত আয়োজনে প্রধান অতিথি হিসাবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন চট্টগ্রাম পরিবেশ অধিদপ্তরের পরিচালক নাসিম ফারহানা শিরীন, বিশেষ অতিথি হিসাবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন চট্টগ্রাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় মেরিন সায়েন্সেস এন্ড ফিশারিজ অনুষদের ডিন প্রফেসর ড. মোঃ শফিকুল ইসলাম, চট্টগ্রাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ফিশারিজ বিভাগের চেয়ারম্যান প্রফেসর ড. মোঃ রাশেদ-উন-নবী, চট্টগ্রাম পরিবেশ অধিদপ্তরের উপপরিচালক মো: ফেরদৌস আনোয়ার, চট্টগ্রাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ইন্সটিটিউট অব মেরিন সায়েন্সেস এর সহযোগী অধ্যাপক আয়েশা আক্তার। কার্ণিভালের বিচারক হিসাবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন, চট্টগ্রাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ওশানোগ্রাফি বিভাগের সহকারী অধ্যাপক মোহাম্মদ সাইদুল ইসলাম সরকার, উদ্ভিদ বিজ্ঞান বিভাগের সহকারী অধ্যাপক ফারহানা রুমঝুম ভূইয়া, ফাইন আর্টসের ভিজিটিং ফ্যাকাল্টি অরূপ বড়ুয়া। অনুষ্ঠানে বক্তারা পরিবেশ রক্ষায় তরুণ শিক্ষার্থীদের ভূমিকার কথা তুলে ধরেন।

অনুষ্ঠানে বিভিন্ন ক্যাটাগরিতে প্রায় ৯০ তরুণ শিক্ষার্থীকে পুরষ্কৃত করা হয়, সাথে সাথে পরিবেশ সংরক্ষণের বিষয়ে শিক্ষার্থীদের উদ্ভুদ্ধ করতে বিজয়ীদের জন্য পরিবেশ বন্ধু গাছ উপহার হিসাবে রাখা হয়।

উক্ত কার্ণিভালের সার্বিক সহযোগিতায় ছিল জাতীয় বিজ্ঞান ও প্রযুক্তি জাদুঘর, পরিবেশ অধিদপ্তর, চট্টগ্রাম। কার্নিভালের আয়োজক সহযোগি ছিল ইবনে সিনা ট্রাস্ট, পার্কভিউ হাসপাতাল ও কমিনিটি ডেভলপমেন্ট সেন্টার (কোডেক)। ক্লাব পার্টনার হিসাবে ছিল গ্রীন ফর পিচ-চুয়েট এবং চট্টগ্রাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় সাংবাদিক সমিতি।

গত ১৫ জুলাই, (শনিবার) ২০২৩ তারিখে চট্টগ্রাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় নেচার ক্লাব এবং রোটারি ক্লাব এর যৌথ উদ্যোগে ফ্যাকাল্টি অফ মেরিন সায়েন্সেস অনুষদ প্রাঙ্গণে বৃক্ষ রোপন কর্মসূচি পালিত হয়। উক্ত কর্মসূচিতে ফ্যাকাল্টি অফ মেরিন সায়েন্সেস অনুষদে ঔষধি, ফলজ, বনজ বৃক্ষ সহ প্রায় ১৫০ টি বৃক্ষ রোপন করা হয়।

গাছ প্রদান করে ও উপস্থিত থেকে এই কর্মসূচিতে ফলপ্রসূ করার জন্য রোটারি ক্লাব অব চিটাগাং রেইনবোর সভাপতি ইফতেখার উদ্দিন খান এবং সাবেক সভাপতি আব্দুল মামুন বাহারকে আন্তরিকভাবে ধন্যবাদ জানাচ্ছি।

It's a pleasure to share with you that, our team had the privilege of meeting Helen LaFave, Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy Dhaka , and we took the opportunity to share about our club and its initiatives. We were thrilled by her response!

Ms. LaFave expressed her admiration for the activities carried out by our club, recognizing the impact we are making in our community. It was truly motivating to receive such praise from a distinguished individual.

As a testament to our dedication to sustainability, our club president and other members had the privilege of offering Ms. LaFave a remarkable gift—a beautiful plant paired with a hand-painted tub. This unique creation was skillfully crafted by our talented club members using recycled materials, showcasing our commitment to innovative recycling initiatives. Ms. LaFave expressed great delight in the artwork and deeply appreciated the underlying concept behind this environmentally friendly present.

We are immensely grateful for the opportunity to meet with Ms. LaFave and receive recognition for our club's efforts. It serves as a powerful reminder that our work is making a difference and inspires us to continue our journey towards a greener, more sustainable future.

বিশ্ব পরিবেশ দিবস উপলক্ষে ডিবেটার্স অব চিটাগং ইউনিভার্সিটি(ডিসিইউ), পরিবেশ অধিদপ্তর এবং ওয়ার্ল্ড ভিশন, বাংলাদেশের সহায়তায় "জাগুক তারুণ্য, বাঁচুক পরিবেশ" শ্লোগানে আয়োজিত সেমিনার এবং পরিবেশ মেলার আয়োজন করা হয়।উক্ত সেমিনারে পরিবেশ রক্ষায় তরুনদের ভূমিকা এবং প্লাস্টিকের ব্যাবহার সম্পর্কে সচেতন বৃদ্ধি করতে আহবান করা হয়। পরিবেশ বিষয়ক পলিসি ও নীতিমালা প্রণয়নে সহায়তার জন্য চট্টগ্রাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় নেচার ক্লাবকে সম্মাননা দেওয়া হয়। 

বিশ্ব পরিবেশ দিবস, ২০২৩, উপলক্ষে ০৫ জুন ২০২৩ খ্রিঃ তারিখে পরিবেশ অধিদপ্তর,চট্টগ্রাম এর উদ্যোগে  শহরের জেলা শিল্পকলা একাডেমির মিলনায়তনে “প্লাস্টিক দূষণ সমাধানে- সামিল হই একসাথে” প্রতিপাদ্য নিয়ে  এক আলোচনা সভা ও পুরস্কার বিতরনী অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করা হয়। প্রকৃতিকে প্লাস্টিক থেকে কিভাবে রক্ষা করা যায় এই অনুষ্ঠানে ফুটিয়ে তোলা হয়েছে। উক্ত অনুষ্ঠানে চট্টগ্রাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় নেচার ক্লাব এর সদস্যরা অংশগ্রহণ করে। উল্লেখ্য চট্টগ্রাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় নেচার ক্লাব চট্টগ্রাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের একটি পরিবেশবাদী ছাত্র সংগঠন ,যা  পরিবেশ অধিদপ্তরের সরাসরি দিকনির্দেশনায় পরিচালিত হচ্ছে। পরিবেশ বিষয়ক সচেতনতা যুবকদের মাঝে ছড়িয়ে দেওয়ার পাশাপাশি পরিবেশ রক্ষায় বিভিন্ন কার্যক্রম চালিয়ে যাচ্ছে।

বিশ্ব পরিবেশ দিবসের অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন ড. মো: আমিনুর রহমান, এনডিসি, বিভাগীয় কমিশনার, চট্টগ্রাম। বিশেষ অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন জনাব ফয়সাল মাহমুদ (পিপিএম), অতিরিক্ত পুলিশ কমিশনার (ট্রাফিক), সিএমপি, চট্টগ্রাম; জনাব মো: মাহফুজুর রহমান, অতিরিক্ত ডিআইজি, চট্টগ্রাম রেঞ্জ, চট্টগ্রাম এবং জনাব রাকিব হাসান অতিরিক্ত জেলা প্রশাসক (সার্বিক), চট্টগ্রাম। উক্ত অনুষ্ঠানে মূল প্রবন্ধ উপস্থাপন করেন প্রফেসর ড. অলক পাল, ভূগোল ও পরিবেশ বিদ্যা বিভাগ, চট্টগ্রাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়।

স্বাগত বক্তা হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন জনাব নাসিম ফারহানা শিরীন, পরিচালক, পরিবেশ অধিদপ্তর, চট্টগ্রাম গবেষনাগার কার্যালয়। উক্ত অনুষ্ঠানে সভাপতি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন জনাব হিল্লোল বিশ্বাস, পরিচালক, পরিবেশ অধিদপ্তর, চট্টগ্রাম মহানগর কার্যালয়, চট্টগ্রাম। আলোচনা সভা শেষে চিত্রাংকন, বির্তক, স্লোগান, রচনা প্রতিযোগিতায় বিজয়ীদের মাঝে পুরষ্কার বিতরন করা হয়।

We are delighted to share with you that one of our esteemed club members, Md. Ibrahim  had the incredible opportunity to participate in a workshop on “Knowledge Sharing And Introduction To Ship Recycling” organized by the Department of Environment, Chattogram.

The workshop delved into the critical aspects of ship recycling, focusing on sustainable practices, environmental impact mitigation, and regulatory frameworks. He actively engaged in enriching discussions, gaining valuable insights, and networking with industry experts and stakeholders.

Stay tuned as the attendee will be sharing his learnings and experiences from the workshop, enriching our club's knowledge base and inspiring us all to make a positive impact in our environment.

করোনা ভাইরাস প্রতিরোধে ‘চট্টগ্রাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় নেচার ক্লাব’ কর্তৃক প্রস্তুতকৃত হ্যান্ড স্যানিটাইজার যা গরীব দুস্থদের মাঝে বিনামূল্যে বিতরণ করা হবে এবং ব্যবহারে সচেতন করা হবে।
