The Ash Conference, held in Autumn 2017 was a huge success, bringing together experts in ash from all over Europe. Attended by delegates from across Cumbria and beyond, the conference shared current thinking on ash dieback, what can be done to mitigate the effects of ash dieback and strategies for the future. Myths were dispelled and misconceptions challenged at this highly stimulating and ground breaking conference.

Vikki Bengtsson
Ecologist based in Sweden, specialising in practical care, restoration of and management plans, for veteran trees, with particular experience in educational and guidance. She is also co vice chair of the Ancient Tree Forum.
Iben Margrete Thomsen
Forest pathologist Ph D and senior adviser at the Department of Geosciences and Nature Resource Management at the University of Copenhagen. Specialist in fungal diseases, damage to trees in forestry, landscape and urban environments.
Matthew Parratt
Research Scientist at Forest Research. Established the large scale mass screening trial over 14 sites in south east England, working with multiple landowners.
Matt Elliot
Conservation advisor for Tree and Woodland Health at Woodland Trust.
