Hello,
I am glad you discovered this.
I'm Jeramie Kim, an alumni of Crescent Valley High School.
I discovered my love for appreciating cultures through conversations with eclectic individuals at the Corvallis Multicultural Literacy Center and Students Advocating For Equity group. Through these experiences, I further uncovered the underlying cultural misconceptions of our rural college town community in Oregon.
In September of 2021, I took the initiative to create a youth-led affinity group to foster a more inclusive, positive environment with the objective of building community.
With the generous assistance of various educators and youth in our community, I hope the Cultural Appreciation Club @ CVHS can continue to grow as a distinguished force of change.
Thank you so much for allowing me to have the honor of leading this youth-led initiative!
Sincerely,
Jeramie Kim
Corvallis, Oregon is located within the traditional homelands of the Mary's River or Ampinefu Band of Kalapuya.
Following the Willamette Valley Treaty of 1855 Kalapuya people were forcibly removed to reservations in Western Oregon. Today, living descendants of these people are part of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde Community of Oregon and the Confederated Tribes of the Siletz Indians.
