Reading for Encouragement, Action and Discovery
The Kids R.E.A.D. (Reading for Encouragement, Action and Discovery) literacy program, developed by Un-Included Club and implemented through Cultivate Academy-CTX, is designed to engage children in literacy through agriculture-focused narratives. The program fosters a love for reading while teaching students about healthy eating, sustainable living, and the importance of staying active, all within the context of real-world agricultural experiences.
The Kids R.E.A.D. Analysis is designed to engage and challenge our Growers and Harvesters (middle and high school students) to critically analyze children's books through the lenses of Encouragement, Action, and Discovery. This reflective process builds a strong foundation for the Kids R.E.A.D. literacy program, fostering a deeper understanding of the books' themes and ensuring that students present the material with intention and insight.
Kids R.E.A.D. community events provide opportunities for our Growers and Harvesters to share carefully selected and analyzed books with children. Each reading is paired with intentional, engaging activities that help deepen the connection between the children and the story. In alignment with our mission to combat illiteracy, every child receives a book to take home, helping them build or expand their personal library. Through Cultivate Academy-CTX, this program not only enriches students academically but also fosters leadership, as Growers and Harvesters actively engage with and give back to their community.
