Conscience versus conformity

Conscience is described as the inner aspect of our mind that causes emotional distress and guilt when we go against it, and joy and satisfaction when our behavior aligns with our personal values. In the New Testament, the word for conscience is suneidēsis, which refers to an awareness of morality or ethical consciousness. Our conscience responds when our actions, thoughts, and speech either match or conflict with a set of moral standards.

The act of changing your behaviour to match that of people in your social circle is referred to as conformity. This might involve taking the position of the majority or changing one's behaviour to conform to the standards of the group. Conformity basically entails submitting to the group's influence.
