Events
We organize a wide range of events throughout the year to ensure there is something for everyone to enjoy. Some of our key activities include camping trips, hiking adventures, and various outdoor activities that allow scouts to connect with nature and develop essential skills. In addition, we host the Pinewood Derby, a friendly car-racing competition where scouts design and build their own cars, and the Blue and Gold Banquet, a grand celebration that honors the achievements of our scouts and their transition to new milestones. These events, along with many others planned throughout the year, foster camaraderie, fun, and personal growth among scouts and their families.
Outdoor Activities
Outdoor activities are at the heart of scouting, offering scouts the chance to explore and engage with the natural world. We organize hikes that are accessible and enjoyable, often involving short, scenic trails through forests that provide a peaceful yet adventurous experience. For swimming, we ensure everyone is included by providing certified trainers who teach fundamental strokes like butterfly, freestyle, and backstroke to those who are still learning. For experienced swimmers, we conduct swim tests to assess their skills. Climbing is another thrilling activity, often available during campouts where scouts can test their courage and strength on rock walls designed for safety and fun. These outdoor experiences not only build physical endurance but also instill confidence, teamwork, and a love for adventure.
Camping
Camping is one of the most beloved activities in scouting, offering a chance to step away from everyday routines and immerse in the outdoors. During our campouts, scouts engage in a variety of activities such as archery, BB gun shooting, rock climbing, and other exciting challenges that cater to a wide range of interests and skill levels. These experiences encourage scouts to develop important life skills like self-reliance, problem-solving, and leadership while also enjoying the camaraderie of their peers. Whether it’s setting up tents, cooking meals over a campfire, or simply stargazing, camping fosters a sense of connection to nature and to one another. Pinewood Derby
The Pinewood Derby is an annual highlight that sparks creativity, friendly competition, and a sense of accomplishment. Scouts receive car kits, which include a block of wood, wheels, and axles, and are encouraged to design and build their own race cars. This process often involves brainstorming ideas, sketching designs, and refining them during a car-cutting event where their visions are brought to life with the help of tools and guidance. Afterward, scouts paint their cars, attach wheels, and prepare for the big race day. On Derby day, excitement fills the air as scouts race their cars down the track, cheer on their peers, and vie for trophies in various categories, including speed and design. Attendees also enjoy lunch, fostering a festive and communal atmosphere. The Pinewood Derby is a day full of creativity, teamwork, and thrilling competition that scouts look forward to each year.
Blue and Gold Banquet
The Blue and Gold Banquet is a significant annual event celebrating the achievements of our Arrow of Light (AOL) scouts as they transition to the troop of their choice. The banquet begins with a shared meal and includes a series of engaging activities such as skits, awards presentations, and speeches celebrating the scouts’ accomplishments. The highlight of the event is the ceremonial crossover, where AOL scouts receive their Arrow of Light awards and officially join their chosen troops. This event is not only a time of celebration but also a meaningful way for scouts, leaders, and families to honor the journey and milestones of the AOL scouts. It's a day filled with recognition, gratitude, and excitement for what lies ahead.
