North Florida Council - Five Rivers District
Our mission is to prepare boys and girls to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. The four aims of Scouting are citizenship, character, personal fitness, and leadership. We achieve this mission through the use of outdoor skills and service to the community.
Cub Scout Pack 614 is headquartered in Gainesville, Florida.
Our Chartering Organization is Meizon Church which is our primary meeting location. Our Pack also adventures to other parts of Florida and the Southeast for special trips.
We are within the Five Rivers District of the North Florida Council (a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida).
Our Pack and Dens meet 4 times per month from August to May and follow the public school calendar. During the summer we organize 3 - 4 fun events each month promoting the National Summertime Pack Award.
Our Pack meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month. Pack meetings are structured to provide socialization among different Dens, provide opportunities for scouts to be recognized for their achievements, and to build citizenship skills.
Dens meet on the first and third Wednesdays of each month. Dens are made up of 5 to 8 Scouts who are in the same school grade. Dens meetings are structured to provide socialization, fun, and life skills as Scouts work together as teams toward earning adventure loops and rank advancements.
In addition to Pack & Den meetings, our Pack meets once per month (usually the third weekend) for extra fun activities such as locate nature hikes, overnight camping trips, the Pinewood Derby, Pack Olympic Games and other adventures. But most of all we have FUN!!!
The total cost of participating in our Pack is approximately $250 per year, which includes annual national, council, and unit dues, a Pack T-shirt and uniform patches. Scout uniforms are available through the Scout Shop. For scouts in grades 1-5, a uniform shirt and belt are required (other uniforms pieces are optional). Kindergarteners in the Lion Den may chose a traditional uniform shirt or the special Lion T-shirt. https://www.scoutshop.org/
Scouts can earn their dues by participating in fundraisers (Fall Popcorns, Holiday Wreaths, Spring Camp Cards) throughout the year. For families with financial hardship, scholarships are available.
When considering the youth leadership training, civic engagement, outdoor skills, friendships, and fun, we know this is a highly valuable program for our kids.
