Mission

Our Mission

The Catholic University of America Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapter is a student coordinated, student led organization that seeks to put God’s love into action by promoting awareness of the need to eliminate substandard housing in the United States and by bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope! We are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ — to follow the example He set to love our neighbors, to serve the poor, and to use our gifts to stand for human dignity, promote justice, and help those in need.

We offer 5 HFH collegiate challenge trips for students at Catholic U by volunteering at various Habitat for Humanity sites across the United States during spring break. The emphasis of these trips shall be on serving communities outside of Washington, D.C. and immersing our students into the culture, customs, and unique problems of those communities. By going on a spring break trip, a student should return conscious of the mission of Habitat for Humanity, educated on diversity and affordable housing within the United States, and possessed with a desire to communicate both the need to eradicate all homelessness and to promote affordable housing for all in their home communities.

IT IS OUR GOAL THAT WE SHALL BE “BUILDING A BETTER LIFE, ONE NAIL AT A TIME.”

About Habitat for Humanity

"Habitat for Humanity is a global nonprofit housing organization working in local communities across all 50 states in the U.S. and in approximately 70 countries. Habitat’s vision is of a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

"Habitat works toward our vision by building strength, stability and self-reliance in partnership with families in need of decent and affordable housing. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage."
