Habitat for Humanity Spring Break 2020

About Catholic U Habitat

The Campus Chapter of Habitat for Humanity at The Catholic University of America was founded in 1989. The mission of our organization is to spread the love of Habitat and help students become lifelong advocates for adequate and affordable housing for all. Students can help bring simple, decent housing to families in the D.C. area and nationwide in various ways, including day builds, weekend retreat builds, and spring break trips!

Our chapter has grown rapidly since it was founded. We now offer day build trips on two Saturdays per month, two annual fall retreats, one spring retreat, and five Collegiate Challenge Spring Break trips to various locations across the country. For day trips, we serve in the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia.

Our Mission

Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope! We wish to spread the love of Habitat and help students become lifelong advocates for adequate and affordable housing for all. Students can help bring simple, decent housing to families in the DC area and nationwide in various ways, including day builds, weekend retreat builds, and spring break trips!

Each year the Catholic University of America Habitat for Humanity Chapter sends students across the country to participate in the Collegiate Challenge Program. Last year, Catholic U Habitat sent participants to Mobile, AL, Fort Smith, AR, Fort Lauderdale, FL, Wilmington, NC, and Laredo, TX. Each trip is composed of participants, student leaders, and a faculty advisor all together there are 20 members per trip for a total of 100 participants going on a Spring Break trip.

In addition to Spring Break trips, Catholic U Habitat also hosts two fall retreats and a spring retreat to Delaware, Virginia, and Pennsylvania featuring a weekend build. Twice a month we participate in day trips to local affiliates in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia to perform work both on build-sites and at ReStores. We also host numerous advocacy events on our campus to educate members of our community about the goals and mission of Habitat for Humanity.
