Two cohorts of 25 caregivers will take a course on how best to support their multilingual students.
Caregivers of students who are MLs in South Carolina school districts will participate in an online course that focuses on evidence-based strategies for promoting literacy. The design of the course is participatory in nature, involving researchers, school districts, teachers, the Community Advisory Council, and caregiver focus groups.
Incentives for caregivers participating in the course include receiving technology for accessing the course (iPad), knowledge of how to support students, inclusion in the learning process, literacy bags, and a stipend for completing the course.
