If there was ever a time to be extra careful with your Chromebook it's...ALWAYS! But if something does go wrong while we are away from our buildings, then send your school librarian an email and they will make sure it gets to the right place to address your issue.

If your Chromebook is acting odd, then your first line of defense is to shut it down completely. To do so hold down the Refresh key (circular arrow key in the top row) and the power button at the same time.
Also, be sure to restart your Chromebook if it prompts you to do so after an update.
To check for updates to the Chrome OS manually:
Click on the time/battery area in the bottom right of your chromebook.
Click on the settings wheel
Look for about Chrome OS
- it might be at the top
- it might be at the bottom of the column on the left
- it might be in the menu (click on 3 lines) at the bottom
Click on "Update chrome"
It will tell you the % as it updates
When done, restart the chromebook
Log in again and check. Is the version number at least 85?
If not, do it again.
If this DOESN'T help, please contact the librarian at your school.
If you are still having issues you can powerwash your CB and that will reset it to the factory default settings. You will have to reenter some stored information that will be lost, like WiFi passwords, but it may fix your problem. Your library media specialist can help you.

If you’re having trouble with your mic, please try these things first:
· Log off and shutdown for about a minute. Turn back on, see if there’s a difference
· Try doing dictation-where you speak and the chromebook writes
· https://www.androidcentral.com/how-manage-microphone-and-camera-privacy-settings-your-chromebook
· Make sure the Bluetooth setting is off
· Look in your address/search bar. If there is a red dot all the way to the right on the bar-click it. It means you need to address (usually) both your mic and your camera. It will instruct you when you click on it.
