In this lesson, students will be asked to reflect on how we remember the Holocaust and how we remember historical events. A set of questions for analyzing a monument can help students get to the meaning of the piece of art and the purpose of the monument.

Memorials have many different kinds of goals, including telling an accurate story of the past, expressing nationalist ideas, honoring life, confronting evil, and encouraging reconciliation.
